Cleveland Range is the only steam cooking manufacturer that specializes in the design and manufacturing of steam cooking equipment. The Welbilt Development Center in Tampa, Fl.,allows Cleveland to address special applications, chain accounts and supermarket applications. Cleveland uses three manufacturing facilities that specialize in each product line.
From design and R & D to quality control and manufacturing, each plant is independently operated. The plants are Cleveland, Ohio-Steamers; Concord, Canada-Kettles and Skillets.
Company Milestones
- 1847 Original company started in in Cleveland as a small retail store manufacturing the "French Steel Range"
- 1890 the company becomes the Born Range Company and moves to Galion, Ohio.
- 1898, Born Range moves back to Cleveland, Ohio.
- 1922, the food service division separates from Born Range and becomes Cleveland Range delivering the first stainless steel construction, the first stainless steel steam cooker, the first units with thermostatic traps, synchronized with pressure relief valves ,the first removable aluminum doors, the first copper jet boilers and the first atmospheric steam generators.
- 1974, Introduced the first pressureless convection steamer,The Cleveland Convection SteamerTM, model D.
- 1979 introduced the first Counter Top Pressureless Steamer, the SteamCraftTM II.
- 1982 introduced a complete line of steam-jacketed kettles and tilting skillets.
- 1987 introduced the first combination pressure/pressureless steamer, the SteamProTM.1988 introduced the first high capacity counter top pressureless convection steamer, the SteamCraft VTM.
- 1990 Introduced the first high capacity convection steamer, the ConvectionProTM.
- 1991 Introduced a complete line of gas & electric Combi steamer/ovens, the CombiCraftTM.
- 1992 Introduced first steamer with power burner the SteamCraftTM Ultra 10
- 1993 Introduced first vertical steam boiler in a steamer, the SteamCraftTM Power 10.
- 1996 Introduced the first Pump Descaling System.
- 1997 NickelGuard Boilers became standard in many models.
- 1998 SteamCub Boilers Steamer and Gemini Steamer Introduced,
- 2001 5 Year 100% Parts and Labor warranty standard on NickelGuard
- 2002 Introduced the Patented SteamChef 3 Boilerless Convection Steamer with Kleanshield
